Oftentimes, especially in MMA, news of a fighters public actions end up being highly negative or disturbing. Then, there’s Max Holloway.

The former UFC featherweight champion is widely considered to be one of the most likable and genuine people in MMA, and yesterday, Holloway added to that resume, revealing that he will headline the ”, a charitable endeavor that aims to generate donations to the Maui Food Bank and Hawaii Food Bank, to assist with COVID-19 relief.

In an announcement to , Holloway revealed that he will be offering up a private training session for five, autographed gloves, and dinner with him at “one of the best places in Hawaii.” Anyone with a donation of at least $10 will be entered into a raffle for Holloway’s VIP experience and all proceeds will go to the food banks.

A proud Hawaiian, Holloway noted that the state has been hit especially hard by the coronavirus pandemic as tourism . As such, the state has fallen on hard times and Holloway is looking to help out where he can.

“Unemployment in Hawaii is near 40%, and because our economy is based on tourism, it looks like it’s going to be a long road to recovery,” Holloway said. “We also got a very high cost of living here, so a lot of people are hurting. The reason why I signed up for this is that the proceeds go directly to the food banks, and the food banks really, really need the help right now.”

ope赞助And Holloway says this is only the beginning. “Blessed” believes the road to recovery for his home state will be long, considering the ongoing nature of the pandemic, and he plans on continuing to help out as he can.

ope赞助“There’s a lot of needs in Hawaii and all over the world, really, but right now the focus for my team is on the basic needs for Hawaii people, which is food,” Holloway said. “When the food banks tell us they’re good, then we will pivot into helping other areas. But right now, we need to make sure people can continue to eat during these tough times.”

Holloway has not fought since losing his featherweight title to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 245 last year. However, with his ongoing charitable work, he may soon claim the that Stephen Thompson currently holds.
